Today we have Sara Jo of Haute and Gaudy to tell us how she came a successful online & traveling boutique owner! Here’s her story:
Time for a Change
I had a Government contract for Fitness. The government was doing shut downs, and it caused me to lose my part time/sub job. I wanted something to do part time. My kids were young, I had energy, I wanted to make some money but I never wanted to miss anything that my kids did.
It was September of 2013. My sister was a hair designer in Rockwall and I went to get my hair done. She showed me a dress that she had bought in Canton the weekend prior and it had a tag on it $67. I remember telling her, “I am going to sell clothes. If people are willing to drive to Canton then why wouldn’t they shop local”. I had $300 cash on me. I left her house and stopped in Dallas at market. I went home and sold every single piece in less than 24 hours to my friends. I rolled that money into purchasing more and more items. I now have an online store, always open for shopping!
Where to Find Haute & Gaudy
I am mobile (I pull the CUTEST Leopard trailer that you ever did see!) You can find me at shows on the weekends, travelling all OVER Texas. I also do POP UPS during the week—anywhere that women work, I will go. Haute & Gaudy will go into schools, hair salons, corporations, real estate offices, hospitals, restaurants, and jewelry stores to name a few. I give back a portion of my proceeds so that they can be FUNdraisers. So EASY and lots of FUN! Haute and Gaudy is currently in 3 stores– The Vibe in McGregor, Simply Irresistible in both Waco AND Dallas. I am also on Facebook
On Being a Boutique Business Owner
I LOVE everything about my job. I LOVE people. I love being referred by a happy customer. I love spending just a few minutes with many people. I love picking out and putting together outfits. I like dressing the part and people buying what they see me in.
